Child and Family Services of Michigan, Inc. (CFSM) celebrated our 45th year of gift giving with Operation Good Cheer 2016. And what a great year it was!!! We partnered with 70 agencies to fulfill Christmas wish lists for 5,733 of Michigan’s foster care children.
Thanks to our wonderful donors and volunteers we had our biggest year ever. On December 2, 2016 more than 17,200 gifts provided by 257 donor groups, families, and individuals were unloaded and sorted by hundreds of volunteers at Oakland County International Airport. 27 trucking companies volunteered their services and semi-trucks to pick up gifts and deliver them to designated drop-off sites. Throughout the day, hundreds of volunteers met at Pentastar Aviation’s hangar to unload the gifts and sort them for delivery the next day.
On December 3, 2016, Spirit of Good Cheer flight was in full swing. Volunteer pilots diligently made their journeys across the state to deliver thousands of gifts to their destinations. Over 200 flights were completed to 25 airports. Volunteer truck drivers also drove throughout the day to ensure every last present on board was delivered to participating agency volunteers, eagerly awaiting their arrival.
Thank you everyone, for braving the cold weather and making Operation Good Cheer 2016 a huge success!!!!
